Summer Layouts

These are two layouts I made today, on the first I used some of the straw that I got for the UKS cybercrop and I used my last bit of lace trim. The second one was fun to make because I used clear embossing powder on the stamped images and then blended some distressed ink over the image. It worked well because I am running out of alphabets. I love the little bird stamp (american crafts) that is over the photo. My Desk is a right mess as you can see no space to work on it, must clean it up!

ATC Secret Garden Ideas

I played around with some ideas for an ATC swap Im in over in UKS I think I might be getting somewhere now, I stamped one of the Tim Holtz Ideology stamps about 12 times and started adding different textures to it. In these I used very fine glitter, stickles and crackle paint and embossing powder. I have to decide what effect I like the best. I am also working on another idea too Ill pick one to go with tommorrow.

I decided to go and make some ATC's for the seceret garden swap that Im in over on UKS, but I started playing around with inks, texture paint, then the masks came out and then a little metal butterfly got acrylic paint dabbed on it I ended up with this and not an ATC in site. Ill try again tomorrow night. But it was fun and messy to play around with paint and textures, although my poor mask needs some TLC after the sandy texture paint has stuck to it.

One of the holiday layouts. I hand cut the blue swirl, inked the sides, covered it in glossy accents and then put some shiny trim on it. The flowers come all the way form my mother in law in Algeria. She sent me over a large box of ribbon and flowers. I stamped the base paper with my stam and sprayed it with glimmer mist. I think it looks nocer in real life!

We had a lovely Party for the Staffs Children in school today. I couldnt believe how sociable and independant Rayan is. Its amazing what happens in the first year of a childs life.

I didnt sign up for Shimelle's JYC but after looking at some of the Journals anll the talented scrappers are comming up with I couldnt resist making one. So I have made a small one because I dont have time to journal every day. I have put a range of pattern paper on the inside. I was going to wait until I got this months scraproom kit which has lovely christmas paper in it but the mood took me. I just had to scrap. My new Ikea desk is all set up, and I got to work on it for the first time today while my little prince was sleeping (which was not very long) so I played around with my Tim Holtz toys. I didnt make anything I just played which was a nice thing to do because I haven't done that in years, so the results were not that great but I had fun. I got the collection stamps but I think they are only suitable for atc's, I think i will have to get the big ones, so if anyone has seen them going cheap or 2nd hand please let me know. I did discover that my PC wont start for some reason, thank god for laptops!

"A Baby's Perspective on Sleep Training"

OK, here's my situation. My Mummy has had me for almost 7 months. The first few months were great--I cried, she picked me up and fed me, anytime, day or night. Then something happened.

Over the last few weeks, she has been trying to STTN (sleep thru the night). At first, I thought it was just a phase, but it is only getting worse. I've talked to other babies, and it seems like it's pretty common after Mummies have had us for around 6 months.

Here's the thing: these Mummies don't really need to sleep. It's just a habit. Many of them have had some 30 years to sleep--they just don't need it anymore. So I am implementing a plan I call it the Crybaby Shuffle.

It goes like this:

Night 1--cry every 3 hours until you get fed. I know, it's hard. It's hard to see your Mummy upset over your crying. Just keep reminding yourself, it's for her own good.

Night 2--cry every 2 hours until you get fed.

Night 3--every hour.

Most Mummies will start to respond more quickly after about 3 nights. Some Mummies are more alert, and may resist the change longer. These Mummies may stand in your doorway for hours, shhhh-ing. Don't give in. I cannot stress this enough: CONSISTENCY IS KEY!!

If you let her STTN (sleep through the night), just once, she will expect it every night. I KNOW IT'S HARD! But she really does not need the sleep, she is just resisting the change.

If you have an especially alert Mummy, you can stop crying for about 10 minutes, just long enough for her to go back to bed and start to fall asleep. Then cry again. It WILL eventually work. My Mummy once stayed awake for 10 hours straight, so I know she can do it. Last night, I cried every hour. You just have to decide to stick to it and just go for it.

BE CONSISTENT! I cried for any reason I could come up with.
> My sleep sack tickled my foot.
> I felt a wrinkle under the sheet.
> My mobile made a shadow on the wall.
> I burped, and it tasted like pears (I hadn't eaten pears since lunch - what's up with that?)
> The dog said "woof" (I should know. My Mommy reminds me of this about 20 times a day. LOL.)
> Once I cried just because I liked how it sounded when it echoed on the monitor in the other room.
> Too hot, too cold, just right--doesn't matter! Keep crying!!

It took awhile, but it worked. She fed me at 4am. Tomorrow night, my goal is 3:30am.

You need to slowly shorten the interval between feedings in order to reset your Mummies' internal clocks.

Week 13 Scrap It Like You Mean It, I have skipped a few lo, I will return to them I hope. Week 13 was to scrap with stamps so my baker boy one has a bit of stamping down the end, I also used my new Tim Holtz Mask, love these, Olive showed me how to use them so a big thanks to Olive. The second Lo is Rub a Dub Dub, I was waiting to use this paper a long time now.

This is the last day of 'Scrap Your Day' a fantastic free class given by Shimelle on UKS. My friend Olive
suggested it would be a worthwhile project for me to take part in because my life was going to change a lot in the year. SHe cut the cover and pages for me and bound the book with her BIA, and off I went. It was a good idea and now I have a good record in photos of the year. I have one more entry to make and that will be completed after I finish taking photos today. I also want to decorate the inside of the cover with some reflection journalling.

I just completed December and January 'scrap your day' its turning out to be a nice album. Olive gave me one of Tim Holtz Masks and I tried using it yesterday, I enjoyed it just wish I had a little more time to play with it, I only get to play during nap time which never lasts long!
